NASA astronaut Frank Rubio has returned from a long stay in space. He spent 241 days aboard the International Space Station. This mission was one of the longest for an American astronaut.

He landed safely in Kazakhstan on September 27, 2023. This marked the end of his mission with Russian cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin. Rubio's time in space gave NASA new insights on long space trips.

Rubio shared, "My time in space was a great experience, but I missed Earth." His mission focused on the human side of space. NASA wanted to see how long trips change the body.

"We hope this data helps for future missions to Mars," Rubio stated. Staying long in space can weaken bones and change muscles and eyesight. The data from Rubio aims to guide future astronauts.

NASA has big plans for Mars. They need data from astronauts like Rubio to plan long journeys. Rubio's mission helped them learn more about these needs. "Preparing for Mars is a big job," he said.

Life on the station had many tests and tasks. "We did over 200 experiments," Rubio noted. These looked at plants, fire safety, and new tech on the station. His work helped grow food in space and use new tools.

Rubio is now a public figure. His journey showed the challenges of long space travel. He hopes others will see space as an exciting chance. "Space travel is the future," he added.

These lessons will shape NASA’s work. They focus on human health and space tech. Rubio returned with data that might help future aims. His mission is a small step toward big goals. Lessons learned will inspire future teams. Some dreams need this data to come true. More research will help progress.
